1. AI-Driven Food Safety

Chemometric Brain introduced a digital tool for authenticating food products through packaging analysis. This tool enhances quality control, helping detect food fraud and maintain product consistency, which is especially critical for brands concerned with supply chain integrity and authenticity. 


2. Blakbear's food freshness monitoring technology

BlakBear’s freshness-detecting technology works by pairing a physical sensor with a mobile app, allowing users to track food freshness data without requiring advanced sensors directly on the phone. The BlakBear device, equipped with specific chemical-sensing technology, can measure volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted as food deteriorates. The sensor detects these markers of spoilage and sends real-time data to the BlakBear app, where users can view the freshness status of their food items.


3. Chosen foods Avocado oil shortening/butter alternative

Chosen Foods has launched Avocado Oil Shortening, a new product made from 100% pure avocado oil. This shortening serves as an alternative to traditional hydrogenated shortenings, suitable for baking and high-heat cooking. It is non-GMO, vegan, gluten-free, and certified as a B Corporation.

4. Switzerland's start-up MAD is making iced tea from coffee waste

Switzerland’s start-up MAD (Make a Difference) is upcycling cascara with its new product, 'Reloved' cascara iced tea. Made from the fruit pulp of Arabica coffee cherries typically discarded, the lightly sparkling, low-calorie drink offers a mild caffeine boost and unique flavor. 


5. Edible cutlery from Kovee - A French startup 

French start-up Koovee has introduced edible biscuit cutlery as an alternative to single-use plastic utensils. Developed over three years, the cutlery is made from wheat flour and rapeseed oil and comes in various savory flavors. It is designed to be sturdy, resistant to water for over five minutes at temperatures above 65°C, and suitable for a range of dishes from salads to those with sauces.
